Some figures in parapsychology have a dual perspective as researcher and sceptic. This especially applies to George P. Hansen, who spent eight years carrying out experiments into ganzfeld, remote viewing and suchlike, but has also been involved with sceptics groups and is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
Hansen is a moderate critic of parapsychology in pointing out flaws in investigators' experimental methodologies, (eg. Critique of the PEAR Remote-Viewing Experiments). However he is primarily interested in the paranormal in its social context, concerned with the ambiguity of parapsychology as a scientific discipline and with the controversy it provokes. His critiques of sceptics, institutions like CSI (CSICOP) and individuals like Ray Hyman, are well-informed and insightful. He is irritated by militant sceptics such as Martin Gardner, to whom he devoted a long section in his book The Trickster and the Paranormal, which is available here.
